Living Three Quarters Full
What living three quarters full looks like
Now what on earth does this have to do with Barbara Bush other than the timing of our conversation? Well, I think Mrs. Bush and I share a bit of this mindset. As I listened to the story of her life, I realized how much pain and difficulty she had endured. And yet, everyone spoke of her humor, joyful attitude and fierce determination. How did she get there? When she lost a child, how did she move past it and share joy with her other children and grandchildren? She moved her military family so many times. How on earth did she keep herself grounded and her family focused? Unlike any other woman in U.S. history, she was the wife and mother to two different Presidents. What was that like? There is no way it was easy. I’m convinced that she possessed the ability to see life through ever-optimistic eyes….she lived three quarters full.
Remember, there’s always a little bit more
When I speak of living “three quarters full,” it in no way comes from a place of naïveté. Life is hard. I completely get that. Some pretty harrowing storms have blown through my life. However, I firmly believe in the ability to determine my attitude if not my circumstances. So, come along and share life’s adventures, rough patches and changes with me and my family as we strive to live “three quarters full.”
